Women in Life Science Denmark debate on Folkemødet 2024 – take aways!
Jakob Riis CEO Falck Healthcare A/S – We need to understand that working with gender diversity is not about being fair to the women, it is about creating stronger companies, better workplaces and more values to the shareholders.
Britt Meelby Jensen CEO Ambu A/S – When talking about gender diversity, the focus is mainly on board of directors rather than the top management, and when we look at the major Danish companies, there is far too few women in the leading positions (76 out of 1000), and I would argue that if you sit in the top management you have a much greater impact on the company’s result.
Lene Gerlach Chairperson WiLD – In Denmark, 90% of all Chairpersons are men and 84% of all CEOs are men, thus the gatekeepers determining the career path of employees are primarily men. The global organisation OECD points to that Denmark has a gender-segregated labour market, where leaders are men and recommend temporary quotas. WiLD supports that.
Claes Kirkeby Theilgaard Journalist BT – let’s not talk about the gender differences and digging unnecessary gaps. After all, this is what we have to move away from, so let’s not correct the sins of the past by repeating them the opposite way around.
Thank you to all who showed up to the debate and the reception afterwards!
